Greetings Rascal Families!
Our class got raving reviews at Open House. Crowds were gathered around the bulletin board! Students and families were admiring “Pete the Cat” created by the Rascals. A BIG "Thank You!" to Mrs. Roy (Maggie's Mom and Art Teacher in Manchester) for making Pete for the center of our bulletin board. We think your work is the "cat's MEOW"!
Of course, the class books will go down in kindergarten history. We all agree, the highlight of the evening was watching your KINDERGARTEN STAR in our class video show entitled, “Rich’s Rascals Rule”! It is a 5 ***** production!!! Needless to say, your budding author and illustrator loved hosting the evening in our classroom!
Root! Root! Root for your kindergarten child! Our class is known as a team of hard workers, no doubt about it! In addition to letter recognition Aa-Mm, we’ve been introduced to the following 4 sight words: a, the, and, go ….WOW! You’ve been practicing letter names and sight words at home with your child…I can tell! Next week we’ll be introduced to letter names Nn-Qq and the sight words, had, he. Ask your kinder to read the pre-decodables sent home every week. Note the sight words on the inside of the front cover of the pre-decodable. I am so proud of their progress!!!
Writers’ Workshop has begun. Of course, many moments were spent admiring the way your kinder decorated a cover page for each binder. What a colorful illustration! Thank you for sending them in so promptly. Now we have all the “write” stuff to participate in Writers’ Workshop!
Do you believe next week we’ll begin Unit 2 of the Reading Series, “Imagine It” ? There are 10 units in all! The theme for Unit 2 is patterns. We’ll be reading lots of stories and poems about patterns. The kinders are ready to begin their investigation about patterns. For Show & Tell on Tuesday, let’s wear a pattern. You may wear it on your clothing or jewelry. Perhaps show us a household gadget or toy that might have a pattern. The possibilities are endless. Rich’s Rascals will be parading around the first, second and kindergarten classrooms on Tuesday showing off our patterns.
Show & Tell has become a special time for students and directly relates to what we’ve been learning. Kindergartners welcome an audience and love sharing with their classmates. Thank you in advance for helping your child be prepared for Show & Tell.
Columbus Day will be observed on Monday, October 8th. There is NO school on that day.
Happy 3-Day Weekend!
