Newsletter ~ February 21

Hello Rascal Families,

Did you hear the news?  Great news spreads rapidly!  The winners of the PTA Label Contest are the AM Rascals.  The morning kindergarten is in first place with a total of 3,797....YAHOO!  First place winners will enjoy an in-class Pizza Party!  Thank you families for all of your hard work behind the scenes.

Moving right along…..We have been active participants in all the "write" activities.  Your young Kindergarten Author has been publishing books since the beginning of school.  Be on the look-out for our latest books in the making, Hooray for 100 Days of School,

Mrs. Pearl's Valentines

and Mrs. Rich’s Valentines

They are Award Winning books for sure!

Letter names/sounds in the March plans are  Ww  and  Kk. Add two new sight words to your growing list: look,  with. Click on the arrow to learn the sight word song, look, by Have Fun Teaching.  (Unfortunately, sight word with is not available in the Have Fun Teaching Series.)

The improving scores on the Sight Word Assessments are proof that you’ve been practicing sight words with your child every night!  Kudos to YOU and YOURS!!!!

More bragging is in order!  Many students have reached their goal of writing numbers from 1 to 20.

Now they are a member of the 20 Club and moving on.   All the Rascals are on a mission to become members of the 50 and 100 Clubs.   Let’s continue to encourage them!

Math and reading instruction along with report card assessments have been ongoing. Every student has made progress since the 2012 days!  Kindergarten days at Underhill have been marked with much growth and many accomplishments.  Specific achievements and grades will be recorded on the report card.  Your child’s next report card with grades for the very first time will be going home on Friday, March 29th!

It’s hard to believe, but this month is coming to an end too quickly. Engaging activities and challenging projects will continue, but we will have to wait until after vacation.   We're looking forward to celebrating Dr. Seuss' 109th birthday!

Rich's Rascals Budding Authors can't wait to learn all there is to know about Dr. Seuss' writings and drawings!  Let's march back to school to participate in more exciting plans in March!!!
