Newsletter ~ February 14

Happy Valentine's Day, Rascal Families!

It’s hard to believe, but this month is coming to an end too quickly.   Valentine Friendship Day was the SWEETEST  ever!  Thank you for all the loved Valentine cards, generous gifts and delicious cookies, cupcakes, candies and chocolates.  Playing Love -Cupid  Bingo, the conversation hearts activity   and   Stepping on Hearts were enjoyed by all. The sessions ended with an exciting homework assignment ….opening Valentine cards as soon as we got home!!!  Yes, Mrs. Rich  and Mrs. Pearl had the same homework assignment!  Be on the look-out for Valentine Class Books compiled by Mrs. Rich and Mrs. Pearl.  They will be in circulation soon.  We had a heart-to-heart talk about all the February projects and events.  February has been a fun month, indeed!

We’re going to make history in kindergarten while learning about it, too.  The students will focus on two birthday presidents this month, Washington and Lincoln.  We’re fascinated with coins and bills and who is on each one.  President talk continues....

Speaking of leaders, Dr. Seuss’ 109th Birthday will take place on Saturday, March 2. Do you know he is my very favorite children's author?   Let's celebrate when we get back from vacation.  It is the perfect kick-off for upcoming Literacy Events.  We have been active participants in all the “write” activities.  Writing, illustrating and publishing are components of the Literacy Program, which the entire population at Underhill School is involved in.  Parents will be invited to school to view the Literary Works (class books, individual writings and artwork) of your child.  More details will follow as Literacy dates/activities are confirmed.  Stay tuned!

Last, but not least, we are proud to announce we have successfully completed 6 units in the Imagine It Reading Series.  It is no surprise that we are ready to show off what we have learned!  Next week, we’ll be reviewing letters, sounds and sight words we have learned thus far.    Wow, we have certainly grown since 2012 days!

                                                                        Happy 3-Day Weekend!
