The month of June is HERE with
lots of accomplishments to brag about! The
BUG-Eyed Rascals released their lady bugs into their natural environment.
Ask us how many pupae emerged into
ladybugs! The Rascals are “BUGGY” about
Ladybug activities.
We’ve been working diligently to complete our Ladybug Metamorphosis Journals. Ask us all about the metamorphosis of a ladybug.
With these results, we’ve named
ourselves expert entomologists!
Tie-Dye Day with our very
favorite Art Teacher, Mrs. White,
will go down in Kindergarten history!
The Rascals have donned this day the
most “colorful” day of the 2012-2013 school year!
YES! We
have the works to prove it!
Grateful
accolades to parents, grandparents, teachers, teacher assistants and volunteers
for working on and behind the scenes. This project was a success because of YOU...
THANKS SO MUCH!!!!
Note that the Food Drive is the last two weeks of
school, Monday, June 14th through Friday, June 24th. Send in canned, bagged or boxed food (NO
glass). The combined kindergarten
classes have a goal of 60 items…EASY, PEASY!
At the end of the school
year Underhill
will present their donations to the Hooksett Community Food Pantry.
In between the many fun-loving activities, the next final
weeks will be packed with assessing what students have learned. Your child’s report card will be reflective
of this. Keep in mind that the skills
will be reinforced in first grade.
Introduction to these skills is the expectation in kindergarten, not
mastery. With time and guided
instruction each child will eventually reach our academic goals. For this reason you’ll want to continue with
instruction throughout the summer. I’ll
be sending home first grade sight words for you and your child to practice. More learning activities and suggestions will
be included in my end of the year newsletter. Taking small steps will get us to
the places we want to go. We are all
moving in that direction!
YAHOO! We’ve made BIG
headway with assessments.
The final
NWEA/MAP Assessments
will be administered on Thursday and Friday of this
week. I will be administering the “Imagine It” Benchmark on Monday, June
10th. This assesses all the skills
students have been taught in our reading program throughout the kindergarten
year. I can’t wait to share the results
with you. Be sure your child gets a good
night’s rest, eats a balanced breakfast/lunch and attends school on Thursday, Friday and Monday. Thank you in advance for partnering with
me.
Celebrate
June Days!
June A. Rich
