Newsletter ~ March 14

Hello Rascal Families,

St. Patrick’s Day continues to be the talk in kindergarten.  Your child will have lots to share this Friday when you ask, “What did you do at school today?  (Since St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Sunday our class will be celebrating on Friday….wear GREEN.)  Many descriptive words will be used to paint a picture in your minds of the green footprints galore on tables, white boards and the floor; in addition to furniture turned upside down.  It is a true story! This happens every year in Mrs. Rich’s classroom.  The Rascals have been building ingenious Leprechaun traps in the Block Center this week.  Their goal is to catch the Leprechaun.   St. Patty’s Day in our classroom is GOLDEN!  Stay tuned for Rascal photos and more news this weekend!!!

More adventures are in store for us next week.  We’re moving on to the last chapter in Unit 7 of the Imagine It Reading Series.  Introducing letter name/sound Vv along with reviewing the sounds of  Ww, Kk, Ee, Qq and Yy are in the plans for next week. Add two new sight words to your growing list:  was, were.  Thank you for practicing your sight words every night.  You’ve been working hard and it really shows!

It is that time of year…your child’s report card is going home on Wednesday, March 27th.  For the very first time in Kindergarten History kinders will be graded in the academic area.  WHOHOO!  All children have improved since the beginning days of school.  A celebration is in order.  Root!  Root!  Root for Rich’s Rascals!!!

                                                                                    Top of the Weekend!
