Numeration games help us learn a TON during !00th Day FUN!!!!!!

I spy with my little eye....We looked high and low for the postings of each number 1-100.  Then we recorded our findings by coloring that number on our 1-100 Chart.  Ask us what number we'll see on our 1-100 Chart when this activity is complete?

Race to 100 is an all-time favorite!   We LOVE rolling the dice while we color that many boxes!  Of course, we read the number aloud with pride.  Getting to 100 ends the game....GO Rascals!!!
MY, have we come a looong way since 2012 days.
We're ready to read and write numbers.  Look at the
3-digit number we built with pretzel sticks and Necco wafers.

YAHOO!  We collected oodles of food items for the Food Pantry in Hooksett.  We've surpassed our goal of 100!  Thank you 100 times, Rascal Families!!!
Count by 10's with us to find out the total...

Read your "HEARTS" out, Rascals!

Collaborative learning is ongoing!  The Rascals and the Second Graders count the days until Monday, Buddy-Up Day.  The Rascals have been reading their decodables to their Second Grade Buddies.  Of course, bringing books they can read from home is also an option.

Partner reading with a Rascal Buddy is another collaborative task we love, love LOVE!!!

These collaborative sessions give us the opportunity to teach one another, check each other's understanding, discuss concepts and ideas while having face-to-face interaction.

The Read at Home Program has inspired us to read, read, read!  Each time we read 15 books we are invited to choose a gift from Mrs. Rich's treasure box.  Though we just started in January, most of us are recording on Reading Log #2....WOW!!!!  How many books will your child read by the end of the year?  Go Rascals!!!!

"When you read you will succeed....100% guaranteed!"

Newsletter ~ February 7

Greetings Rascal Families!

Rich’s Rascals 100th Day Anniversary is THREE days away….Tuesday, February 12 (barring any snow days)!  100 day projects are due.  This day will go down in history!  Tune in and listen to all the details about the drapery treatment that will decorate our classroom door?  The design is very meaningful to us….digits, 1-0-0   in oversized, bold font!!!  Teachers, students and volunteers will enjoy stepping through the cut-out zeros as they enter our classroom Tuesday.  Each one of us will rename ourselves, “Zero the Hero”!

Our Valentine Friendship Day is going to happen on Thursday.  Kindergartners are ready to spread the friendship.  Many kinders have finished their Valentine mailboxes.  Names need to be on each mailbox.  At home, they’ve been working on their Valentine cards for weeks and can’t wait to give them to their kinder friends.  Send “V”-Day cards and mailboxes to school on Thursday.  Remember to dress in red..

HOMEWORK will be assigned this weekend.  Rich’s Rascals are to complete addressing their Valentine cards and mailboxes.  This is an assignment all will do, cross our Hearts!!!

Have you heard about the work we’ve been doing during Math Workshop?  We’ve been focusing on skip counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s;  with a special emphasis on 10 to 100!

You’re going to love the way we wrote our numbers from 10 to 100 on our 100th Day vests!  Stamping was fun, fun, FUN!  Ask us how many stamps in each section...

Spread the news!  We have surpassed our goal of collecting 100 edibles!   A total of 150 items is the current count....YAHOO!!!!  Thank you 100 times for your generous donations!

It's no surprise that numbers with zero in them are our favorites!!!  The zero connection elicits a lot of talk about our 100th day of school.  Zero chatting goes on and on…  Yes, if you think Ben Franklin made his mark in history, look closely at the 100 hundred dollar bill we will be sending home on 100th Day.  Do you recognize the famous Kindergartner?

Next week, we will complete Unit 6, “My Shadow”, in the Imagine It reading series.   Reviewing the letters/sounds:  Jj, Ff, Xx, Zz and Uu are in the plans.  Add the new sight word all to your list of words to read.  Practice your sight words and read your decodables every night.
Read your “hearts” out, Rascals !!!!!

                                                     Celebrate 100 Days of School!!!
